Caldera Cycles Green Cyclocross

The New Zealand cyclocross scene is set to gather extra momentum with the emergence and passion of a local builder named Chris Tuckey. Chris is based in Auckland and Caldera Cycles is developing a healthy portfolio of handmade cyclocross, track and commuter frames.

Chris’s ‘Green Cyclocross’ is constructed from Columbus Life with a Dedacciai rear triangle, while the front consists of a True Temper CX20 fork. Due to a lack of dedicated bike frame painters in Auckland, it was 9 months before paint was applied, a spectacular House of Kolor shade called LimeTime. Chris’s painter describes it as (insert Kiwi accent) “A bitch to paint”, but the result is stunning. Hopefully the sight of it cruising around Auckland will inspire more local cyclocross riders and events, more cyclocross is always a good thing.

See more details of the build process on the Caldera Cycles flickr stream. Thanks to The Skull Bike Club for the tip.
