At this stage, this is all you get to see of the Kibosh Racing team bikes built by Tom Donhou with no small contribution by the members themselves. Tom has constructed a fleet of frames that the South West team will use to combat the local circuit this season.

Kibosh Racing are a group of iconoclastic riders that hail from the South West of England, dedicated to bringing the true racing spirit back to the UK cycling circuit, and now they’ve got race-ready machines to prove their mettle.

Tom worked with the boys to create a team’s worth of bikes for the season, just like frame builders used to do before the industry was homogenized, but the lads weren’t going to sit around and watch.

In an unprecedented act of participation, the lads actually helped out with the drilling, mitering and prepping of tubes, under Tom’s watchful eye. The assistance didn’t stop there but continued with pizza and beer runs while the construction took place.

In the east London workshop, Tom blended the frame from a mix of Columbus HSS and Spirit tubing with the “world’s lightest steel dropouts”. The top tube features an opposed oval teardrop down tube and heavily ovalized top tube.

The paint, also applied by Tom, the kit — with touches by illustrator Thomas Slater — and, indeed, the team ethos, is inspired by a certain British racing driver who won the F1 World Championship in ’76 and gained notoriety for his reckless success.

The frames will be wearing Columbus‘ new Futura fork, and Ritchey WCS wheels and finishing kit. The Dura-Ace groupset will provide precise shifting under race conditions, and the Brooks C13 will do the job it was designed to do: make racing comfortable.
