Dirt fans at April’s Sea Otter Classic were able to sneak a peek at the two new models from Fat Chance Bicycles: the tall Chris Cross and the wide Yo Eddy! Plus. Now it’s our turn, thanks to some awesome photography by Fat Chance’s Muuqi Maxwell.

The all-new Chris Cross from Fat Chance is a versatile beast, accepting both 700x44mm tyres and 650bx2.1″ (with an ENVE fork).

The frame is a custom mix of Columbus and Reynolds 853 tubing, with a custom tapered 44/34 head tube. As a complete, the fork and stem can also be painted to match.

There’s 4 fork options: ENVE, Ritchey CX, TRP (with fender mounts) and the new Yo Eddy steel, made by Chris Igleheart.

The Chris Cross isn’t just a CX race machine, it’s more than capable of long summer gravel rides and bike packing trips, and can be fitted with fenders for winter.

The hills of Monterey provided a fitting backdrop for Muuqi’s photoshoot. Trails around these slopes are the perfect terrain for the Chris Cross.

The Yo Eddy! Plus is the updated version of the 2.0 frame launched in 2015. This time around it’s got extra clearance for 27.5″+ tires.

The rear triangle features the most significant differences to the previous version, starting with the Chris Chance-designed CNC-machined ‘demi-yoke’.

The rear end now accepts Boost spacing and the dropouts now allow a thru axle in the dropout. The brake mount has been moved to the chainstay.

Like the Chris Cross, there are options galore, the least of which is paint and decals — but who could really go past this old-school theme?

The frames are designed and welded in the US from custom-drawn steel tubing, including stainless main frame tubes.

An oversized 44mm head tube sits up front, mounted by the iconic Yo Eddy’ head badge. Again, your chosen stem can be painted to match the frame.

Tire clearances extend from 27.5″x3.0″ to 29″x2.4″, and build options range from FOX, Rock Shox, Shimano, to SRAM, ENVE, Thomson and more.
