Heritage Paris 007

Fans of the James Bond series are eagerly counting down the days until the 23rd of October 2012, when the 23rd installment, Skyfall, will be released. A milestone event for Eon Productions, it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the series, which began with Dr. No in 1962. French bicycle makers Heritage Paris are commemorating the event with a special 007 themed frame.

Two French brothers, Alex and Simon Billard, joined with Cyril Saulnier to become Heritage Paris, a custom bicycle house that combines a distinctly French sense of style with a passion for quality engineering. They employ the skills of Daniel Hanart, a former racing cyclist and frame builder who created the machine that Jeannie Longo won the 1985 hour record upon.

The serial number of this frame, 007, provided a natural inspiration for the Bond theme. The 1964 film Goldfinger is referenced by the 24 karat forks and lugs, a stark contrast to the matte black ‘tuxedo’ of the frame. Paul’s Royal Flush chainring and cranks are a subtle allusion to Casino Royale. The seat post is also made by Paul, which supports a Brooks saddle etched with the Heritage logo.

Frame 007 has been assigned a special mission: It will be exhibited as part of designer Thomas Erber’s Cabinet de Curiosities at the Berlin boutique of Andreas Merkudis from 22nd of November 2012 to the 23rd January 2013. Special thanks to Parisian velo vendor, the Bicycle Store, for the photography and information.

I normally find Bond tie-ins to be in poor taste, but this one isn’t bad at all.

    # 1 The movie doesn’t come out ( in the US ) till November … so don’t rub it in ( LoL )

#2 What in the Sam Hill does any bicycle have anything to do with any of the Bond 007 Films or Books ? Fact is …. bupkiss . So this bit of pretentious Bond Tie In I find more than a bit insulting to mine and anyone else’s intelligence
Take the 007 ‘ Bond ‘ pretentious references attempts away though and this would be one very classic looking , beautiful bicycle
The epitome of ” Just because you can ( the Bond tie in ) doesn’t mean you should ”
BTW ; I do hope the builder has a license paid in full to use the Bond 007 moniker on this bike , because if they do not , well , if you think Shelby and Harley Davidson are litigation happy when it comes to licensing : wait till you’ve come face to face with the Brocolli -007 Empire . They’ll rip the shirt off your back just for laughs – and then move on to the serious financial damage ;-)

A really pretty bike, but a 007 themed bike with no Hi-Tech? I was expecting a HUD or at least electric shifting

James Bond’s bike should be an english roadster. 3 speed.

And James Bond is Sean Connery.
