Blue Lug, Japan’s iconic bicycle emporium, perform the essential role of supplying their extremely passionate customers with custom creations, compiled from some of the world’s favorite brands. The latest machine to roll out the door is a complete build of one of Rick Hunter‘s exceptional frames, a pastel pedigree cyclocross weapon.

Cyclocross, to coin a phrase, is big in Japan, hot on the heels of the sport’s recent meteoric rise in popularity in the US. Rick Hunter has been handcrafting bicycle frames in Santa Cruz since 1993, covering a broad spectrum of genres — from cargo haulers and off-road machines in every wheel diameter to track machines and roadies — and enjoys a huge amount of respect for the quality of his craftsmanship and design nous. This cyclocross frame, with its gently sloping top tube, lithe rear end and creative fork crown layout, is a perfect example of why Rick’s frames are so highly sought after.

The Blue Lug crew assembled the Hunter frame with a top shelf selection of components: a full SRAM Force group set, Thomson post and stem, ENVE bars and Chris King‘s legendary R45 hubs laced to Mavic Open Pro rims. Bruce Gordon‘s elegant and functional brake calipers complement Rick Hunter‘s frame, credit to Blue Lug’s stylish specifications. See more on their Flickr.
