Ira Ryan NAHBS Road

One of the brighter bikes at this year’s NAHBS was this road frame by Ira Ryan, resident of the world center of the hand made bicycle, Portland. There’s a running joke in Portland regarding the application of birds to, well, everything, and Ira has demonstrated that he can apply birds as well as any native of The City of Roses.

Local artistic fads aside, Ira Ryan has created yet another impeccable bicycle, who has been building bikes under his name since 2005. Surfers talk about ‘watermen’ in awed tones and I reckon it’s safe to describe Ira as a ‘bikeman’, if there’s such a thing, with the same revere. He retains a traditionalist attitude towards both his riding and design ethos, yet a quick browse through the portfolio of previous builds on his website will reveal a forward-thinking and optimistic attitude.

Ira Ryan’s roadie is presented here by Portland’s Het Fairwheel Podium, and the fantastic photography was taken by David Haines.

I love the color combo. But my favorite color is orange.

Not too sure about the pink on the stem, but it does offer something different for the eye.

    It’s a gorgeous bike.
