There’s nothing like the sight of a cherry orchard in full blossom to signal a positive change in the seasons, but this peppermint mixte by Kumo Cycles, the perfect vehicle to a cycling lover’s heart, is a sign that love is well and truly in the air.

There are five hearts scattered over this frame, but Keith Marshall of Australia’s Kumo Cycles had to stop somewhere. He built this frame as a gift for Alana, his girlfriend, after she was involved in an accident. Thankfully, she was OK, apart from being bruised and a bit shaken, but her bike was totaled.

Keith went to work creating a new frame for Alana, who is an artist and specified the peppermint hue, stainless steel laterals and funky decals. She insisted on a single speed configuration, which resulted in a reliable Paul Components and White industries drive train.

Velo Orange supplied the chain guard and fenders, enabling all-season cycling, while a Brooks basket means portage is a breeze. The handlebars were one of the only components rescued from her late, faithful steed, bearing only a minor scuff as a reminder of constant vigilance.

Keith also organized some custom, sew-on leather grips, embossed with the name of Alana’s new machine: ‘Miss Mint’. I reckon this one’s a keeper. See more of Kumo Cycles on Keith’s website.
