Kumo Cycles Winter Bike

Kumo Cycles

While the northern hemisphere begins to warm with the knowledge that summer and the Tour de France are just around the corner, it’s beginning to get pretty cold in Australia, especially around the nation’s capital, where Keith Marshall and Kumo Cycles call home.

Keith was up at dawn to photograph his latest build, a stainless steel, S&S Coupled light tourer that he describes as a ‘no excuses’ ride: dynamo lights for the dark, hammered fenders for the rain and racks for when load-carrying is required. The frost was heavy on the ground when these photos were taken, which did nothing but emphasize the icy charm of the cold steel, deliberately left raw to underline the working nature of this bike.

With geometry that’s a midpoint between a racing and touring stance, Keith’s Winter Bike has responsive handling and healthy tracking due to a a lower bottom bracket and longer chain stays. It sure is a good looking ride, more than enough to get the blood pumping on a frosty winter morn. Have a look at the Kumo Cycles website for more of Keith’s builds.
