One of Australia’s premier design resources, INFRONT, is readying itself for a major re-branding. It’s only one of the many projects Justin Fox has instigated during his career, and after a heavy day of pushing pixels, he must find it refreshing to get his hands dirty with a wrenching project.

Justin’s latest was this recently completed black Kuwahara. An icon of the BMX universe, there’s more to the Kuwahara legend than just being the bike E.T. commandeers in the 1982 Spielberg film.

As usual with Justin’s self-administered assignments, not a nut or a bolt is out of place or the wrong color, and the result is spectacular. The NOS Suntour stem had been lying around for a while and, after a bottle of wine, Justin was inspired to break open the packaging and install it. In fact, all the Kuwahara’s parts are NOS, including the V-bars. They’re mostly period correct, barring the brake caliper, which Justin intends to replace with a Dia-Compe MX1000, which are about to be re-released.
