When it comes to Australian custom frame builders, the list ain’t as long as our overseas brethren. But we believe in quality over quantity, and the names of Hopkins, Perkins, Cecil Walker, Llewellyn and others line a highly refined hall of fame. Another we’ll add to that selection is Kevin Wigham, the real-life man behind Paconi Racing Frames, Braeside Victoria, Australia.
This is Joe’s Paconi Pista, the most endearing feature of which is the well-worn patina. Not to mention the Campagnolo components (including a classic pair of Shamal rims), supplemented by the SR post and Suntour Superbe Pro pedals. It’s a perfect blend of track and street; the fact that it’s so well ridden, loved and maintained with period parts makes it one of my favorite bikes this week. Special thanks to Joe Gauci for the photography.
