Velo City: Bicycle Culture and City Life

Pereira Cycles Groves Tourer

Pereira Cycles Groves Tourer

There’s something inherently romantic about touring bicycles. When they’re freshly assembled, they seem full of promise, brimming with optimism and a willingness to take you to on a marvelous journey to sights unseen. After a few thousand miles, they imbue strength of purpose and the wear and tear of life on the road. The latest offering by Tony Pereira, master of elegant bicycles, looks destined to deliver its new owner a chronicle of fabulous tales of adventure.

Built for a seasoned cyclist named Mr Groves, this 650b tourer is another feather in the cap for the Pereira Cycles portfolio, defined by a lack of superfluous embellishments while simultaneously exhibiting a superb attention to detail. The sand colored paint sets a traditional backdrop for the contrasting Honey Brooks saddle and the black and gold pear logos on the seat tube sleeve and fillet-brazed head tube.

Mr Groves opted for a 650b wheel set, shod in Grand Bois tires, who also provided the Randonneur handlebars. Chris King supplied the rear hub and headset, while the front hub is a Schmidt SONdelux, which powers the Edelux headlight. The Acorn ‘Boxy Rando’ bag is handmade in America; the cotton canvas duck adds another classic texture to the sandy gloss steel and leather.
