Even Giovanni Pinarello would be excited to see how Alan Tansey has converted his cyclocross frame to a single speed, the lack of derailleurs only serves to draw attention to the high level of craftsmanship that makes Pinarellos so desirable to classic Italian steel enthusiasts.
Cicli Pinarello has been producing some of the finest racing bicycles since 1952, and podium places have been won astride their bikes by such names as Miguel Indurain, Bjarne Riis, Pedro Delgado, Jans Ullrich, Alessandro Petacchi and Erik Zabel.
Alan has obviously built his Pinnie up to be ridden, so it doesn’t matter that the components aren’t period correct. Giovanni created his bikes to be enjoyed, and that’s what Alan is going to do. Check Alan’s flickr for more, including the cyclocross’ stable mate, a 1985 Pinarello Treviso.
