Kazakh Kruiser: Quirk Cycles All-Road

Apparently, there’s great riding to be had in Kazakhstan, both on-road and off. To access more terrain outside the capital of Astana, Quirk Cycles built up one of their all-road bikes for a customer, and it’s probably one of the best-looking bikes in the country.

London’s Quirk Cycles produce a number of standard non-standard models, each of which has been proved in professional situations such as the Red Hook Crit. Their All-Road frame has been a multiple participant in the Trans Am Bike Race, once under Robert Quirk himself.

Rob designed the All-Road specifically for long distance riding and endurance events, but its characteristics will lend themselves well to his Kazakh customer, Maxim, who will be pursuing roads well outside the Astana’s city limits.

The frame and forks are a Columbus ensemble; their carbon Futura Gravel Fork has the perfect amount of give for rough roads, and wide clearances can accommodate more suitable tires. Stainless Columbus XCr tubing was used for the frame.

The groupset is SRAM’s sporty eTap HRD range with Rotor INpower cranks and limited edition Q-Rings, finished with a 3T Ltd Stealth kit. It’s all rolling on a pair of Alto CCX Rims laced to Onyx Hubs, built by DCR Wheels in East Sussex.

The paint by Cole Coatings really steals the show, however: ChromaFlair paint was used to achieve a two-tone maroon and orange tone over a deep cosmic black with red pearl. Whew. This Quirk is going to set the steppe on fire.
