Richard Sachs CX

While the world of custom bicycle builders is populated with many legends, few have generated as much revere as Richard Sachs. With almost 40 years experience, it’s little wonder his frames are so highly respected and sought after. His winning formula is tried and true, he refuses to bow to seasonal fluctuations in style and his professional cyclocross team has produced nine national champions.

Like Richard, his bikes are straight up: no nonsense, built to last and constructed with a healthy dose of integrity. This is his 2009 signature cyclocross frame, kitted out with SRAM Red, Cane Creek and Cole wheels. His bikes are pretty, for sure. With perfect paint by legendary finisher Joe Bell, you could be amused for hours poring over the lugs that Richard produces himself and are works of art by themselves. This is no show pony, however, the complete bike speaks of a solid, understated American quality. More Lincoln Continental than Ferrari.

For a more in-depth insight into the man behind the frame, have a read of Rapha’s interview with Richard Sachs. Then set aside a substantial amount of time poring over his flickr stream, there’s more than enough evidence of Richard’s stature as one of America’s cycling luminaries.
