With a distinct lack of hills in The Netherlands, it’s no wonder crit racing has become popular. RIH Sport Amsterdam is one of the main sponsors of the Vast Verzet Bokaal, or Dutch Crit Cup, offering one of their Super Course custom frames as a first prize.

This year the overall winner of the Dutch Fixed Gear Criterium Competition was Cornelius Kersten, having fought off many riders that have competed in the Red Hook Crit events, and he won himself a completely custom frame by RIH.

RIH Sport Amsterdam was established in 1921 and has an impressive history in Dutch cycling, carrying riders to over 350 national titles and 63 Olympic and World Championship titles.

It did close for a short while but has since risen again and reinvented itself as a bespoke builder of high performance steel bikes.

It was a timely resurgence, coinciding with the rise in popularity of fixed gear crit racing.

For his prize, Cornelius Kersten opted for a dedicated sprinters race bike, selecting components in consultation with master frame builder Lester Jansen, like a Wound Up fork, Thomson hardware and a Campagnolo Chorus groupset.
