Javier Jubete of Spain’s Vintage Luxury Bicycles has a penchant for opulently restoring classic Italian racing bicycles, although he has demonstrated remarkable restraint during the makeover of this Rossin Futura CX4.

To acknowledge the coming of Spring in the northern hemisphere, Javier focused on a dazzling palette of orange with yellow details against a white background — enough to make one reach for the Factor 50 — and it’s just as spectacular as his previous builds.

Most every other creation by Vintage Luxury Bicycles is a Colnago — and the odd Ciöcc — that has been restored to better-than-showroom quality and finished with rare Campagnolo components that have been gold plated and mirror-polished.

Still, there’s a slew of Campy C-Record parts here in pope-worthy condition, each pantographed with the Rossin ‘R’ and logotype, the whole ensemble lending an air that this lo-pro Futura could sail to victory in any time trial on the strength of its spec alone.

Rossin was instrumental in establishing many innovations for the velodrome. The brand was borne from an internal controversia at the Colnago factory, when Gibi Baronchelli, an aspiring up-and-coming racer was passed over in favor of another rival.

The patron Vittorio Ghezzi was insulted that Ernesto Colnago chose the other rider over his own to supply bikes to, so he poached one of Ernesto’s master frame builders, Mario Rossin, Vittorio’s son Giuseppe, Alberto Inzaghi and Domenico Garbelli — of the opposing Itla team, to form their own brand of racing bicycles, which was named Rossin and founded on the 14 September 1974.

The five founding fathers formed the basis of the pentagonal Rossin logo and its iconic ‘R’, which has now been emblazoned proudly on the Ambrosio disc rims — another Rossin innovation, supposedly — here on the Vintage Luxury Bicycles restoration.

A pair of 3ttt’s iconic aero bars spearhead the operation, immaculately dressed in pristine white tape, and it’s all topped with a perfect Turbo saddle — definitely not the place for a pair of blue hipster jeans.

Yes, this would be a fine bike to ride although it, and all of Javier’s masterpieces, provide an equal amount of pleasure just by looking at them. This one, in particular, is a marvelous homage to the Rossin legacy and craft. Oh, and by the way, it’s for sale.
