We’ve been waiting a long time for this. Rowan Frameworks have been teasing us with glimpses of their EDC production series of bikes since the 2017 Bespoked show back in April and on the 1st of September, the order window will finally be open.

Rowan Frameworks is one of the more artisanal frame builders in the UK. Based in Woodchurch, England, Timmy Rowan is heavily guided by the materials rather than by current trends, in the spirit of New York’s Ascari Bicycles and Ezra Caldwell.

Timmy has worked exceptionally hard on this project and the result reveals his vision for a bicycle that will stand the test of time. Every detail is considered from the perspective of durability, integrity, and the fact that this vehicle will have to endure the elements.

This is a production bicycle, so you’ll expect to see a base set of components. Timmy hasn’t relented in terms of quality. He partnered with Paul Components for the Love Levers and Thumbie shifters, as well as a Tall And Handsome seatpost.

All-Black Klampers provide the braking, hauled up by Yokozuma Reaction cables. There isn’t a greater team than Paul Components and White Industries when it comes to quality small-batch parts, so there’s a pair of XM11 hubs inside those wheels.

The EDC also comes with a White Industries headset and their indomitable 1×11 M30 crankset. If you’re looking for bang for your buck, the EDC is it. Even the pedals are the bullet-proof Podiums by the family-owned Gamut USA.

The real story, however, is the touch that Timmy has applied by hand to each EDC: from the sweet chestnut crate on the front to the waxed cotton stuff bag and stainless steel Tombstone rack mounts. Every detail tells a story.

The handlebars, made specifically for the EDC, are completed by custom brass bar ends. It’s all durably painted with a rubble finish concocted by Cole Coatings. You won’t wear through it quickly: it’s built to withstand a nuclear blast and look good doing it.
