Royal H Cycles Show Bike

The New Amsterdam Bicycle Show kicked off yesterday, and one of the featured exhibitors is Massachusetts builder Bryan Hollingsworth of Royal H Cycles. From the look of things it would’ve been a fantastic day, a celebration of cycling in one of the world’s greatest cities.

If you’re lucky enough to have made it along, you may have come across this candy-red beauty at the Royal H stand. If you had a spare $3,000 burning a hole in your pocket, you could have taken it home with you—Bryan was offering it for sale at the show. The 56cm frame features some incredible detailing on the hand-filed lugs, reminiscent of the holly berries which make up the Royal H head badge. This refined commuter is running a color-matched Bendix 2-speed kickback coaster hub and a front Phil Wood hub. Bryan has created a striking contrast with the new frame by installing a vintage pair of track forks and steel Campagnolo Gran Sport cranks.

Hopefully this beautiful piece of machinery was snapped up at the Show, I won’t have to think about rearranging my garage to accommodate it. Have a look at some more details on the Royal H Cycles Flickr set. There’s been some wonderful bikes coming out of the Royal H stables lately, keep an eye on Bryan’s blog for the latest installment.

That is a vintage Phil Wood hub… steel body with alloy flanges… like the mix of old and new.
