Auckland has a strong BMX culture and crew, the epicenter of which is T.Whites Bikes on Symonds Street. Tim White is the proprietor, an advocate of urban cycling enthusiastically helping customers create their dream bikes and build the cycling community. He sent me through these images of a customer’s latest build, an S&M 24″ 38 Special assembled with top shelf parts and, being a cruiser aficionado, they reignited a spark of passion for the ‘big boy’s BMX’.
The 38 Special utilizes S&M’s bombproof parts where possible: bars and forks, seat, sprocket and pedals. The rims revolve around Phil Wood’s re-released Annihilator 2 BMX hubs, a Paul caliper and lever handle the braking duties and a Thomson seat post, clamp and stem round out a American made, built-to-last spec sheet.
