Velo City: Bicycle Culture and City Life

Breadwinner Cycles started up in 2013 in Portland, Oregon. One of the founders was Tony Pereira, a man famed for his fine craftsmanship and eye for beautiful handmade bicycles.

Pereira heads up the production side, even creating the specialty tooling, and he’s the man who welds every frame and fork that leaves Breadwinner Cycles. He’s assisted by racer Alex Roman, who folded his own company Sugar Wheel Works into Breadwinner in 2019 and now handles the product and customer side.

The Breadwinner range includes bikes designed for dirt, mountain and road use. There are multiple models to choose from, but each one is handmade and tailored to the customer’s physique and riding style.
