Tomii Cycles Chris’ Road

Tomii Cycles Chris' Road

We all love our lugged steel-framed bikes. But there’s nothing that can compare with a buttery-smooth, fillet brazed frame. Chris’ Road is the latest build from Massachusetts local Nao Tomii, whose predominantly fillet brazed portfolio demonstrates his fixation with files and calloused fingers.

Tomii Cycles made an appearance at New York’s recent Bike Cult Show, displaying a pastel yellow 650b MTB, but Nao has also built numerous porters, cyclocross, commuters and road bikes. He’s also got a background in sculpture, which becomes evident after a close look at his fine frames.

The owner, Chris Raia, normally spends his time around “hopelessly obsolete vintage racing bicycles”—restoring, riding and documenting them through his blog, Velotopia. His new Tomii will be a pleasant change, although the color selection hearkens to a Cinelli Laser.
