Bishop Bikes Supercross

Bishop Supercross

There’s a mystical camaraderie that exists between bike messengers, but that’s not why I feel particularly awestruck by Baltimore’s Chris Bishop’s craftsmanship. There’s a level of detail in his frames that are like a crystal: there’s more to discover the more you look. If a Bishop Bike is a crystal, then this cyclocross frame would surely be a multi-faceted sapphire.

Shimmering with powder coated silver and that deep blue, the ‘Supercross’ frame reveals some very pretty details that just aren’t evident from a distant profile photograph. Take the Bishop Bikes logo embossed in the stem clamp, for instance. And the polished fork lugs, which just seem to crown the bike with an odd flash of high-polished reflection. Chris obviously doesn’t leave anything to chance, the Chris King headset, Frogglegs calipers and even the valve cap are all colored with the same sapphire blue.

Chris’ experience as a bike messenger has obviously given him the attention to detail that makes him the master builder that he is. Not only when it comes to welding, but also with the subtle differences that separate an ordinary bike from an excellent one. You can see more of his bikes, including his latest work bike project on his website, blog and flickr stream. Special credit goes to John Fabrizio for the images.
