A Dream No-One Else Can See: Bishop Bikes x VéloCOLOUR

A Dream No-One Else Can See: Bishop Bikes x VéloCOLOUR

A line from Candy, Iggy Pop’s 1990 duet with Kate Pierson, is an apt title for this long awaited collaboration between Baltimore’s Bishop Bikes and Toronto’s VéloCOLOUR studio — albeit a contrary one, as the result is an explosion of captivating colour.

VéloCOLOUR’s Noah Rosen and Suzanne Carlsen developed this project with Chris Bishop for this year’s NAHBS and it was immediately snapped up by an enthusiastic buyer, who wanted to take his time building it up to his exacting specifications.

Finally, it’s ready for public viewing and admiration, but as you’d expect from such a partnership, it was worth the wait. VéloCOLOUR’s paintwork and design accentuate Chris’ craftsmanship, and the parts list is top shelf.

Chris fillet brazed the frame to the same level of brilliance that he applies to all his work, including the masterful execution of the seat stay cluster with its integrated seat post binder bolt. The frame also features internal cable routing through the top tube.

Noah designed the paint scheme around a stepped candy burgundy gradient from light to dark, capped with a battleship grey base and Bishop logos — a final shade that is highlighted by the matte slate grey Chris King headset and bottom bracket.

The hubs are the same limited edition matte grey R45s, laced to Boyd Cycling‘s Altamont Lite ceramic rims, strung together by Tommy Barse, wheel builder at Cutlass Velo. A SRAM eTap group, and matching ENVE fork, bars, and seat post, top off the ensemble.

The jewel in the crown, however, is the bespoke head tube badge by Suzanne at VéloCOLOUR — the Toronto duo really are perfectionists when it comes to custom finishing. This has been a true orchestra of teamwork, and the final product is a visual and rideable symphony.
