We’ve been teased for two years or so about the re-emergence of the esteemed Chater-Lea brand of components, and today the first of their new range was introduced in the form of a superbly-manufactured pedal, named the Grand Tour Pedal.
It’s been worth the wait: you could call the Grand Tour Pedal ‘the Aston Martin of pedals’, made in the UK by hand-picked engineers, assembled and designed with the integrity you’d expect from the finest British engineering.
From the press release: “The Grand Tour is hewn from high-corrosion-resistant 316 and hardened 17-4PH stainless steel and comes with a lifetime original-owner warranty. It runs on high-quality chrome steel open bearings with marine-grade grease so it can be maintained over many years in optimum condition.”
As well as being a very stylish component, it looks as intimidating as a Shin Burger, and well-built enough to provide years of reliable riding. It’s a positive indicator of the health of the British cycling industry, and we’re looking forward to seeing what comes next from Chater-Lea.
