The Bear Truth: Chumba USA Del Amo Steel Road

The Bear Truth: Chumba USA Del Amo Steel Road

A few years ago, Chumba USA was re-introduced with a new image and focus: adventurous quality steel frames, handmade in the US. They’ve been steadily building up a range of hardtails and have just added the Del Amo, a rowdy roadie, to the mix.

With a reputation during the 90s of manufacturing and designing race-winning downhill machines, Chumba has introduced a frame with the skinniest proportions in the brand’s history — their Del Amo road bike.

Built according to the company’s Made in the USA philosophy, the Del Amo is TIG welded in-house and available in six sizes of compact geometry, allowing both aggressive racing and neutral all-day riding positions.

While it’s the most slender Chumba to date, it shares the same DNA as some very burly bikes and its reliable aura is undeniable. The Del Amo is a Columbus Spirit-tubed frame with Paragon Machine Works dropouts and a tapered headtube.

You can fit tires up to 30c, and install all road crank options including those with a narrow Q-factor. Two brake and axle options are available, and it’s compatible with a tapered fork, which can be painted to match.

The Del Amo is available as a frame, frameset or complete, and you can select a partial build or a full custom component configurations. It’s a tough bike with a proud story, and we’d love to go road-trippin’ with it.

STOP THE PRESS: Chumba USA also just added the Sendero, a 29er hardtail, to their catalog, which is totally worth a look too.
