Co-Motion Americano

It’s encouraging to watch the resurgence of bicycle touring around the world, although like anything designed with reliability, quality and integrity in mind, it was never in or out of fashion. Co-Motion Cycles, based in Eugene, Oregon, is providing a convincing inspiration for Americans to explore their beautiful country by bicycle with their Americano model. Texan high-end bicycle boutique KGS Bikes added a refined touch to an already sturdy transcontinental tourer.

Co-Motion have been creating custom bicycles for over 22 years, and have become especially well known for their superior tandems (and triples, quads, and quints). The Americano is their top touring model built with Reynold 725 tubing. Kevin Saunder’s KGS Bikes, based in Texas, couldn’t leave the Americano well enough alone, and applied Campagnolo’s Triple gruppo, which should make any mountain range a little more accessible. For stylish protection from the elements, inlaid Woodys Fenders have been added, and it’s all rolling on a pair of Rolf Vigor wheels. The leather Brooks saddle adds a warm touch to a truly capable tourer.

KGS Bikes offer a proprietary BalancePoint™ positioning system: it’s a service like this that can make a world of difference when investing in a bike, especially when you’re embarking on a long distance, heavy laden tour. You can make an appointment with Kevin and the team via the KGS Bikes website. There’s more detail images of the Americano on their flickr stream.
