Colnago Master 55

Happy New Year! I trust you all had a rejuvenating holiday, for it’s time to get back into the swing of things, and what better way to start 2011 than with the Colnago Master 55. Produced to commemorate both the revered Italian marque’s 55th anniversary and the Master model. First introduced in 1983, the influence of the Master is undeniable.

With typical Italian bravado, the Master elaborated the traditional lugged steel frame with its Gilco-designed tubing (those flutes that allegedly provided longitudinal rigidity) and coincidentally formed Colnago’s Ace of Clubs logo… Those tubes, coupled with Colnago’s Precisa forks (the first forks with straight blades) combine to make the Master a design icon and one of cycling’s most desirable bikes. If you’ve got a Colnago Crono Oro in your stable, the Master 55 would be a perfect complement.

Only 99 55th Anno models were made, finished in a deep gloss black and gold hand-finished lugs, the individual head badge and a gold leaf signature on the down tube. Of course, a Campagnolo Super Record 11 speed gruppo is the choice of components. The role of Cycling’s Most Desirable Ride is obviously a strenuous one, our model even worked up a sweat in the photo shoot.
