Cycles Courtois

This could well be the second ever example of a frame by French marque Courtois on the pages of the internet. For all my Googling and Classic Rendezvous-ing I only came across one complete road bike and next-to-no background information on the brand. Still, the primary focus here is what Greg Siary, of French fashion boutique Novoid Plus, created from an old Courtois frame he discovered.

The bricks and mortar storefront of Novoid is located in Aix-en-Provence, just north of Marseille, and Greg assembled his Courtois with a fresh coat of paint to resemble the interior of his store: wood details feature prominently. A finely crafted pair of CB Italia wooden rims have been shod with white rubber, matched with a pair of wooden handle bars by Officine Milani Firenze. Greg assures us they are just as comfortable as any metal riser bar he’s used, but gloves are a requisite on longer rides. No matter, offset by the leather of a Brooks Swift, tool bag and straps, the ensemble looks the business and crown a wonderful commuter for a discerning gentleman.

If you’re unable to drop into the store in Aix-en-Provence, Novoid Plus also has an online store. Aside from an extensive range of fine books, shoes and accessories essential for the modern man, they stock a fine range of fixed gear-specific parts.
