Feather Cycles x John Smedley

The Union Jack and bicycles are are making a fashionable combination this year, what with the ongoing success of Bradley Wiggins and Team GB’s domination of the Road and Track events at the 2012 Olympic Games. Ricky Feather would have felt extra proud then, as he was commissioned to create this Union Jack-themed track bike.

http://www.theliftagency.com/index.html is an advertising house located in Leeds, Yorkshire, whose client list includes John Smedley — a fine cotton and knitwear manufacturer that has been in business since 1784. Feather Cycles were contracted by The Lift Agency to produce a track bike that now graces the front window in the company’s flagship store on Brook Street, London.

Naturally, the machine is upholstered in English Brooks leather. The Lift Agency, as an aside, designed the Feather Cycles head badge, which incorporates the White Rose of York — a symbol of Ricky’s local pride. I’m sure Ricky, and the rest of the British nation, will be excitedly watching the upcoming Olympic BMX events to see if the winning streak of Team GB will continue when the gate drops.

Special thanks to Kayti Peschke for the photography.
