FIXIE Inc. Pure Blood

FIXIE Inc. Pure Blood

You’ve got to hand it to the crew at FIXIE Inc., they sure know how to market themselves and their machines well. Fortunately, their bikes are smartly designed and solidly constructed to reassure potential customers that their marketing creative isn’t all fluff: these guys actually believe in their product and aren’t afraid to bestow them with a personality.

The Pure Blood is their race specific cyclocross model—there’s no fender or rack mounts on this frame, so cyclocross is about all you’re going to do on it. And while they’ve taken a bold step by making it disc-specific, the Pure Blood is definitely a racer’s bike. The frame is constructed from ‘custom drawn aircraft steel’, bound together with both fillet brazing and TIG welded joins, especially evident in the segmented wishbone seat stays. The front brake cable is internally routed through the fork stanchion, while the other cables are precariously mounted underneath the down tube, but are protected from the elements by Jagwire sheaths. The Pure Blood is specified with SRAM Force, with a wheel set running FIXIE Inc.’s proprietary hubs. I would personally be more comfortable with a shade of yellow more Flandrian than Acid, but at least there’s numerous rampant lions visible. You can top off your stem with the cap from your favorite Belgian beer, just to keep the inspiration up while you’re staggering up and sliding down those muddy slopes.

Have a look at the introductory Vimeo edit for more details, and then head over to the FIXIE Inc website, Cycles For Heroes, where you might discover that one of their marvelous Project bikes is more up your alley. Thanks to Kitesurf Bike Rambling for the tip.
