Gear: AETHER Apparel Pre-Fall 2015

In the first issue of Rapha’s Mondial magazine there is a great article about Jan Gehl, the celebrated Danish architect who is dedicated to making cities more accessible for human beings and, in particular, cyclists. Urban cycling and commuting is becoming increasingly more acceptable, creating a niche for brands like AETHER Apparel to fill with attire that functions equally well on or off the bike.

AETHER just released new additions to their pre-Fall 2015 collection: the fully waterproof Transport jacket, the insulating Tracker hoodie, and the all-weather Bike Pant trousers. Read more below:

Transport Jacket
A city jacket designed for bike-to-work commuters. Features include understated reflective piping on the back seams and a subtly elongated tail to make your ride more comfortable. Made from a 3-layer, hard-shell fabric, the Transport is fully waterproof yet remarkably breathable.

Seam-sealed construction and weatherproof zippers allow the jacket to handle everything from a light sprinkle to a full downpour. To regulate heat while on the go, the Transport features pit zips and subtle front-chest vents that allow for ample airflow.

The sleeves feature a casual inner cuff that reduces wind flow but leaves enough room for a watch. For exterior storage, the jacket features zippered hand-warmer pockets, a hidden side pocket, and a lower back pocket that can fit larger items like gloves and spare inner tubes.

On the inside, a zippered pocket features an audio valve for headphones. Gripper tape along the inside bottom edge keeps the jacket in place while in motion.

Bike Pant
Made from highly breathable, water-repellent stretch-twill Schoeller® fabric, the Bike Pant has a slim modern fit that works in the office but is also functional enough for bike commuters. This pant was specifically designed with plenty of stretch to ensure your comfort on the bike as well as throughout the day.

In addition to the streamlined aesthetic of the pants, subtle bike-friendly features have been integrated into the design, including a reflective back-pocket flap that can be tucked in while at work and untucked for the ride home and 3XDRY® wicking technology that quickly dries sweat. Reflective stripes on the interior of the bottom cuffs provide additional safety and visibility when the pant legs are cuffed.
