Heritage Paris 007

Fans of the James Bond series are eagerly counting down the days until the 23rd of October 2012, when the 23rd installment, Skyfall, will be released. A milestone event for Eon Productions, it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the series, which began with Dr. No in 1962. French bicycle makers Heritage Paris are commemorating the event with a special 007 themed frame.

Two French brothers, Alex and Simon Billard, joined with Cyril Saulnier to become Heritage Paris, a custom bicycle house that combines a distinctly French sense of style with a passion for quality engineering. They employ the skills of Daniel Hanart, a former racing cyclist and frame builder who created the machine that Jeannie Longo won the 1985 hour record upon.

The serial number of this frame, 007, provided a natural inspiration for the Bond theme. The 1964 film Goldfinger is referenced by the 24 karat forks and lugs, a stark contrast to the matte black ‘tuxedo’ of the frame. Paul’s Royal Flush chainring and cranks are a subtle allusion to Casino Royale. The seat post is also made by Paul, which supports a Brooks saddle etched with the Heritage logo.

Frame 007 has been assigned a special mission: It will be exhibited as part of designer Thomas Erber’s Cabinet de Curiosities at the Berlin boutique of Andreas Merkudis from 22nd of November 2012 to the 23rd January 2013. Special thanks to Parisian velo vendor, the Bicycle Store, for the photography and information.
