Colorado’s Steamboat Springs is also known as both Ski Town and Bike Town, being quite the destination for both sports. Moots Cycles have called it home since 1981, when Kent Eriksen and a creative bunch of friends set up shop in an abandoned sawdust incinerator under a logo featuring Mr Moots: an alligator-shaped pencil eraser in a top hat.

Mr Moots was selected for the role of brand ambassador as a constant reminder to have fun, but age and experience may have tempered the original urge. Eriksen sold Moots to enjoy a smaller-scale operation from, ironically, the same building he started Moots in, but that hasn’t stopped Moots bikes and their riders from having heaps of fun.

Titanium is synonymous with Moots and they are famous for their ‘stack-o’-dimes’ welds. Their Vamoots road frame is as highly regarded as their MTB frames and this CR model, owned by Jerry Bowles, is doing exactly as it was designed to do. Jerry has set it up with 28C tires and a Rivendell Bicycle Works Brand V bar bag — perfect for rough all-day excursions.

See more of Jerry’s adventures aboard his Moots Vamoots CR on his Reporting Home tumblr, not to mention his pa’s awesome Land Rover.
