Pereira Cycles Black Road

Pereira Cycles

Usually the bikes on The Spoken are focused on the beautiful handmade frames that are constructed with a healthy dose of blood, sweat and tears. This road frame by Tony Pereira of Portland-based Pereira Cycles, clad in matte black and white details, actually accentuates the components.

Tastefully presented, the brushed metal of the Ultegra group set, ‘wet white’ Ritchey seat post and cockpit and red anodized Chris King hubs and bottom bracket are set like jewels in this frame. Possibly one of the most ‘Pro’ rides I’ve seen of Tony’s, his builds are simply more evidence that Portland really is the center of the handmade bicycle world. We’ve featured another Pereira before which was also painted with ‘under-the-radar’ matte black, but the complete lack of extraneous color on this road bike has taken his clean lines to another level.

The Ritchey seat post seems almost too perfectly positioned in the seat tube’s sleeve; with that legendary shield sitting just above the collar. It’s details like that which can really drop the competition when straining up a Col. Attention to detail: the sign of a true master, both the rider and the builder.
