The 2017 NAHBS has drawn to a close, leaving a wake of incredibly beautiful bicycles in it’s wake. Our heads are still reeling from the variety of bikes displayed, including this Mosaic RT-1D, put together by Illinois’ Velosmith for SRAM’s show booth.

SRAM got in contact with Velosmith Bicycle Studio, located just north of Chicago in Wilmette, to assemble a bike that epitomized the direction of the market over the last year. In short, the first task this ‘road’ bike will tackle is a 100k mixed terrain event.

It’s an interesting result, although not unexpected. The frame has clearance for 30mm tires or 28mm like today. A full SRAM eTap HRD groupset is mounted with flat mount calipers, 160mm rotors, a WiFLi rear derailleur, an 11-30t cassette with a 50/34 crankset.

The RT-1D is a titanium frame whose rear brake cable is routed through the downtube. It sports a 44mm head tube, here housing an ENVE 12mm thru-axle road disc fork. The frame is wearing Mosaic’s new customizable color scheme, applied by Spectrum.

Velosmith has been in business since 2011, supplying custom and rider-specific bikes to a discerning market. The RT-1D is their third collaboration with Mosaic for NAHBS, and it’s a fine showcase of SRAM’s range, but what will we see next year?
