Vanilla Bicycles Goodwin Tourer

Vanilla Bicycles Tourer

There was an unspoken rule on The Spoken concerning bicycle photography: No bikes in front of garage doors and no non-drive side shots. This tourer by Vanilla Bicycles has blown that out the window, and I doubt there will be another bike for a while that will cause me to be so rash.

Sacha White and his team in Portland completed this frame in 2009; it was destined for an East Coast client who was going to remove it from the box and embark on a 1,200 kilometer maiden voyage a couple of days later. It would be interesting to hear from the customer how it fared, although I’m sure there would be glowing reports all round. Frame aside, the stem, decaleur, chain stay protector and rack straps were all made in-house. As an example of Sacha White’s design expertise, the rear racks perform a dual role as fender struts, while the straps are designed to secure a bedroll, small tent or custom, handmade, wax cotton swag.
