De Marchi Cycling Apparel

After working as a bike mechanic, Emilio De Marchi turned to racing against the likes of Bottechia, Bobet and Bartali during the sepia-toned period of the 20s. By the 30s he had discovered a lack of quality cycling apparel, thus beginning the legacy of one the oldest known cycling clothing brands.

Emilio and his wife Emma made a batch of homemade clothing specifically designed for cycling, as opposed to the generic sportswear riders had no choice but to wear. Elda, Emilio’s daughter, joined the company after WWII, incorporating the company into Maglificio Sportivo De Marchi.

Legends such as Fausto Coppi, Felice Gimondi, Marino Basso, Francesco Moser and Claudio Corti were all bedecked in De Marchi clothing over their champion years, and it is this classic era that is remembered in the De Marchi Cycling Heritage range of jerseys and boutique accessories.

The jerseys are made from an itch-free Merino wool blend for easy care, with classic mother-of-pearl buttoned pockets and reinforced stitching, logos in Cornely-type hand cranked embroidery and doubled cuffs. Most importantly, each jersey is a collectible item of timeless cycling style.

De Marchi can proudly say that it has been uninterruptedly run by the same family since it was founded in November 1946. Head to their Cycling Heritage webstore to browse the full collection and their main site for more contemporary designs.
