Cinelli Golden Black

Cinelli Golden Black

This black beauty was the product of Cinelli’s in-house design team, probably intended as a special project or an exhibition piece. Cinelli has always placed a high priority on good design; they have contributed a huge amount of innovation, beauty and passion to our sport since Cino Cinelli founded the company in 1948.

This appears to be a stock Super Corsa frame, and has been kitted out with a specially prepped Campagnolo Super Record gruppo. Coated with a predominantly black finish and accentuated with gold highlights, the Golden Black has carried the theme right through to black leather bar wrap and gold thread. The pump handle has even been similarly upholstered. The attention to detail is impeccable, gold cables and derailleur cable housing, golden quick releases and hub bearing dust caps. The frame bears a gold plate embossed with ‘Febbraio 1987’, but apparently the Campy groupset dates from 1981. It’s unknown how many Golden Blacks were produced; this example was bought by a German collector, and has never been ridden.

Special thanks to Cinelli Only for the scoop.
